Crazy, Beautiful Life

Life around here has been crazy lately and I have often found myself wishing that things were different. Being a full-time working mom is hard. I feel like there are so many things to do and so little time to do it. I want to spend all my spare time with Logan yet there are so many other things that have to get done. Today wasn't much different. I woke up already stressing about everything that needed to be done while I had the day off and I was easily frustrated with Logan. While he was napping I read a friend's blog and she made reference to the song "It Won't be Like This for Long" by Dairus Rucker. While reading her blog I thought about the pictures I had found last night of Logan in the hospital, which then reminded me how much he has changed and how fast. The combination of that song and those pictures made me realize that all the other things in life aren't as important as my family. Thank you Jessica for helping me realize my life is crazy, but beautiful (also another great country song).

3 days old

6 months old

Due to my lack of blogging here is a quick recap of the summer: I was able to go out to ID for 3 weeks for my best friends wedding, Tyson's family reunion and to spend time with my friends and family. We had so much fun and can't wait to go back and visit. The rest of the summer was spent working and doing all sorts of mommy tasks and hanging with the baby.

Now for a current update:
Logan is almost 7 months old. At his last appointment he was 17 pounds, 26 1/4 in long and his head has moved up to the 8th percentile :) He loves to eat everything but peas (just like his mama). He rolls wherever he wants to and is attempting to starting crawling but mainly he gets frustrated at his lack of ability, which uusually ends in a cry fest. Yesterday I put him on his stomach and walked across the room and told me to "come here," he rolled his way right over to me and then held up his arms to be picked up. Melted my heart right there. He has been able to sit up on his own for a while now and he is learning how to put himself into the sitting position. He loves to talk, play with his toys and his piano, and be the center of attention. He like to explore and grab anything he sees (makes me nervous when he can actually get things himself). Right now he is getting his two bottom teeth. Last week he had an ear infection while teething, which caused him to be the spawn of satan. Luckily he is over it now and back to his wonderful happy self. He is the best thing to ever happen to us!
Tyson and I are working our tails off. This is the last weekend the sno shack will be open for the season. It has done well and I am sad I won't get to eat a sno cone everyday, but I am happy to have my husband back. Oh and I have finally reached my goal of trying every flavor :). Once the sno shack is closed Tyson will be working on school and working for his dad's business. I started working for Children's Hospital in August doing private duty nursing. I never thought I would be a pediatric nurse, but I finally have found a nursing job that I love.
I am currently working on Logan's Halloween costume. Halloween is so much more fun when you have a baby to dress up! I can't wait for Halloween!

  1. Things sound great Jackie! Glad the sno shack did awesome. Glad to know I am not the only mom to get frustrated with myself and my little one at times. It is the best, yet hardest thing ever. Really loved this post--and I really miss you!

  2. okay, I've tried to come up with a cute short comment to write but there's so many things I want to say that this might be a novel. First off Logan is so unbelievably adorable!! I can't wait to see what he is for Halloween!!! 2nd You've always been amazing with kids so I'm glad you can be their nurse now. They all probably LOVE you, much more than all those cranky old people in Rexburg! I'm glad the snoshack did well and I'm jealous about all the snocones you got to eat- I only got two this whole summer and now I feel like my summer was left uncompleted! and I'm glad my post helped, why did no one ever warn us how hard being a mo was?! haha yet is makes us happier than anything else! and lastly, when you get a sec from your busy life you should call me so I can stop leaving book-length comments on your blog and stocking you on FB! haha love you Jackie!

  3. So fun! It is sad but true how life flies by! I was just actually thinking of the song "Don't Blink." Don't know if that is the title or not but it says it a lot in the song! Anyways keep on keepin on! I love and miss you all!!!!

  5. I miss you. Wait. I may have plagiarized that from a comment left on my blog. Obviously, my comment to you is true. But please don't try to track down the original poster of that comment, because then there would be a legal battle and I'd probably end up begging for nose hair clippers through the use of Celine Dion songs somewhere in Vegas. I know you like me more than that, so thanks.
